Tom Morin has been a comic as well as a public speaker for over 35 years. He currently lives outside of the Boston area with my wife and two children. He started doing standup in the late 80’s as part of a comedy team called Caito and Morin. After six months of open mics they entered a competition called the Johnny Walker National Comedy Search. (A partnering of Johnny Walker, with Bud Friedman and Evening At The Improv). They came in 3rd out of 106 comedians. That night catapulted them from open mic to headlining within a year. They headlined clubs and colleges throughout New England eventually making our way to NYC. Their career was a hyper rise to success story. They had weekly shows in Boston and NYC with Barry Katz (producer of “Last Comic Standing” who helped launch the careers of Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle Whitney Cummings, Tracy Morgan, to name a few) as an “acting manager”. However, on March 15,1992 Tommy was invited to a small church service where he had my personal “come to Jesus moment!” In that moment he had an encounter that has changed his life forever. A love that he had been looking for my whole life began to supernaturally rush through his entire being from head to toe. Within a few weeks he knew there was a calling on his life, and he needed to pursue it. He broke up the team and put the microphone down never thinking he would use it ever again. One day he was invited to speak at the Framingham Women’s correctional facility in Massachusetts where he shared my testimony and the redeeming power and love of Jesus Christ with a ton of humor in the mix. Over 200 women went to their feet time after time. He thought to myself, “Attica”!! This could be a riot in the making, and the dozen or so guards on watch don’t stand a chance. Shortly afterwards he was being asked to speak at churches, schools, college campuses, corporate gigs and prisons sharing my personal story of struggles and triumphs. All the while using standup as the vehicle to deliver a message of hope. It has been an amazing journey and laughter continues to be the medicine that heals.
